ProspHer Lunch Keynote Speaker

Maryum "MAY MAY" Ali

Maryum Ali is the eldest of Muhammad Ali’s nine children. As a little girl, her father asked her what her purpose in life was. She replied, “I want to help people.” Maryum' s efforts to do just that has manifested in a myriad of ways throughout her life.
In the 1990s, she wanted to inspire youth by being a positive role model within the rap music industry, but the prevalence of female exploitation and violence in lyrics shifted her plans toward inspiring young people in a more direct way.
Maryum graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.A. Degree in Social Work. She has fifteen years of experience in juvenile delinquency prevention and youth development. Maryum has worked with over three-hundred families as a Case Manager, a Program Director and she was a Regional Manager for the Mayor’s Office of Gang Reduction & Youth Development in the City of Los Angeles.
In 2016, the A&E Network heard about Maryum’s work in high crime communities and invited her to participate in their original television docu-series, “60 Days In,” where she served time in a real jail as an undercover inmate.
For the past three years, Maryum has been speaking across the country on a variety of topics. One of her topics is effective communication. Maryum's experience working with families has given her an acute sense of the communication skills needed to foster healthy personal and professional relationships.
